Tubing in the Storms River

Tubing, sometimes adrenaline filled, some times more of a relaxing adventure is a great way to spend a day.

The tubing experience takes place in Storms river, a fern clad gorge with high walls cascading down from the Tsitikamma mountains. Tsitsikamma, the Khoi San word for place of abundant waters, an area known for its majestic mountains, deep indigenous forests fairy-tale waterfalls and wild rocky coast line is a place of infinite beauty. As you tubing adventure progresses you will meander through pristine state forestland, spectacular scenery and see how storms river: Known as a pool & drop river got its name.

Depending upon the water level your tubing experience may differ as follows:

 

Low Water 0-20mm rainfall

Under low water conditions, tubing the Storms River is similar to kloofing where one paddles the pools and walks the shallow sections.

Blackwater Tubing is a serene adventure with fun filled hours of splashing, swimming, rock jumping and hiking in one the most spectacular landscapes on Garden Route – the Tsitsikamma.

 

Medium – High Water 20-600mm rainfall

On medium to high water, Blackwater Tubing is packed with action as rapids become runable. Grade 3 rapids and rock jumps are optional and our trained swiftwater safety guides are always ready to assist the feint hearted negotiating the fast flowing sections.
